These terms are the agreement between you (the agency using the service, and each person who uses it on the agency’s behalf) and Freight Insurance Data (“FID”, “we”). By creating an account or using FID you agree to them. They are written in plain English on purpose. If something is unclear, ask us at support@freightinsdata.com before you rely on it.
1. What FID is
FID is a research and prospecting tool for commercial-trucking insurance. It gathers public federal motor-carrier data, refreshes it regularly, and lets you search, filter and export it. Today the service is the Leads database. Features shown as “coming soon” are not yet available and are not part of what you are buying until they ship — when they do, they are included in your plan at no extra cost.
2. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 and using FID for a business purpose.
- You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for what is done under your account.
- Accounts belong to an agency. Colleagues with an email address at the agency's domain may join the account through the agency's join link. The account owner is whoever set the account up and is the only person who can see billing and remove people.
- Give us accurate information and keep it current.
3. Plans, trial and billing
Plans. FID offers Starter, Business and Enterprise plans, billed annually or monthly. Each plan covers a set number of states for Leads searches (one, five, or all fifty plus DC) and a monthly export allowance. Seats are unlimited on every plan. Current prices and limits are on our pricing page and in your account’s Plan & billing settings, and those pages control if anything here disagrees with them.
Free trial. New accounts get a 14-day trial. The trial starts the moment you run your first search — not when you sign up — so there is no clock running while you look around. During the trial you can preview the first rows of every search and export up to 25 carrier records in total. No card is required to start a trial and nothing is charged during it.
Activating a plan. When you activate a plan, you authorise us (through our payment processor, Stripe) to charge your payment method at the plan’s rate on the schedule you chose. If you activate during a trial, your first charge lands when the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
Money-back guarantee. If FID is not right for you, tell us within 30 days of your first charge and we will refund it in full.
Cancelling. You can cancel any time from Plan & billing. Your access continues to the end of the period you have paid for; we do not refund partial periods outside the 30-day guarantee.
Price changes. If we change prices, existing subscribers keep their current rate for the remainder of their current term, and Enterprise subscribers keep their rate for as long as they stay subscribed. We will give at least 30 days’ notice of any change that affects you.
Allowances. Exports are capped per plan per month and at 5,000 rows per file. Sustained use above 150,000 rows in a month may be rate-limited. Business and Starter plans cover a fixed number of Leads states; these can be changed in Settings.
4. The data, and what you may do with it
The carrier records in FID come from public sources, principally the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. We compile, normalize and refresh them; we do not create them and cannot guarantee that the federal source is complete or correct. Insurance and authority information reflects what has been filed with FMCSA, which can lag real-world changes. Always verify before you bind or rely on it for an underwriting decision.
You may use exported data for your agency’s own prospecting, marketing and underwriting.
You may not:
- Resell, license, publish or otherwise redistribute the data, or offer it to anyone outside your agency.
- Use it to build a competing product or a competing dataset.
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-download the service other than through the export features we provide.
- Share one login across multiple people — seats are unlimited, so there is no reason to.
- Use the data to contact anyone in a way that violates applicable law, including the TCPA, CAN-SPAM and state telemarketing rules. Compliance with those laws is your responsibility.
Our compilation, software, design and brand are ours. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of them to you.
5. Availability and changes
We aim to keep FID available around the clock but do not promise uninterrupted service; data refreshes, maintenance and things outside our control can cause interruptions. We may change or improve features over time. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give paying customers at least 60 days’ notice and refund any prepaid unused period.
6. Termination
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms — in particular the data-use rules in section 4 — after telling you why, unless the misuse is serious enough that immediate action is needed. On closure, your access ends and your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Disclaimers and limits on liability
FID is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that the data is error-free or that the service will meet every need. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for decisions you make in reliance on the data, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [State], United States, and any dispute will be resolved in the courts of [State]. We would much rather resolve a disagreement by talking first — please contact us before anything else.
9. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email account holders at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use FID after that means you accept the updated terms.
